How do soccer teams in Europe move up and down divisions?
I know if you don't win enough, eventually you move down a division. But how long does it take? Do you need to have certain ticket sales or stadium size to move to the higher divisons? Do teams lose fan support when they move down a divison?
The last placed teams (the exact number varies from nation to nation, and from level to level) in league competition are relegated at the end of the season (in some countries those teams may have to meet the best of the division below in a play-off to see who stays up).
Stadium size and ticket sales is generally not a constraint but conditions are. If your stadium is not up to league standards, you can still move to a higher division, but you will have to play somewhere else.
