Hand sewing a pillow including a hook rug. I need info on materials, stitching, and how to(sorta)?
I am hand sewing a pillow using a hook rug. It measures 8" x 8".
1) Would I buy 2 pieces of fabric that measure 9" and then sew the actual rug onto one piece?
2)I would sew the completed hook rug on to one of the two pieces and then sew(using the back stitch) the two pieces of fabric inside out first and then turn it right side out, stuff it, and then sew the rest with the blanket stitch- right?
3)The hook rug is the same as this.

So what color fabric should I do? How much fabric should I get for two 9" pieces? And how much is fabric at A.C. Moore and/or Michael's?

This allows you to easily insert and remove the pillow form.
The tutorial gives the measurements and fabric needed.
Depending on the method you prefer, you need either 1/4 yard of fabric or one pre-cut fat quarter. A quarter yard will measure 9" x 45" and a fat-quarter measures 18" x 22".
Cost depends on the store's current prices, but it should be less than two dollars.
Use black on the back - there is not much of it and it need not be a perfect shade match.
