soccer goalie jersey
What is the number/position system used in soccer (football)?
I have noticed that a starting goalie will wear the #1 jersey. I have also heard of the starting forward/striker wearing the number 9 jersey. What exactly is this all about and when/where did it originate. Thanks for any help.
There is no set number system. Players can choose their number as long as another player on the same team does not have it.
the reasoning for #1 and #9 is just because of liked players or favorite numbers
