how can soccer be a viable TV sport in the US without commercial breaks?
there are no regular breaks in the action other than halftime in soccer, unlike other media-friendly sports such as football, basketball, baseball, etc. Despite many people getting fired up about the world cup, I don't ever see soccer as currently played to be viable here due to the fact it is not well suited for constant commercial interuption. And without the TV, well. . .
I think this might be the reason why it hasn't caught on here, more so than the fact that it's "too slow" and low scoring--the explanation I've often heard. Does this make sense?
Come on who in the world loves commercials breaks get real...I mean you are watching the game, last play few seconds left...then all of the sudden you see a commercial about a girl going horseriding, saying, "sometimes I have that not so fresh feeling...."
