Tachikara Fluorescent Soccer Ball

The fluorescent green model I purchased as a gift was LOUD in color–perfect for the young man I bought it for…it was well packed and arrived super-quickly. It was properly inflated, well constructed and had several unusual color choices (it is so very important to stand out or at least have your equipment stand out, isn’t it?).
The ball’s construction and durability have been outstanding; Tachikara balls are well known in soccer circles and for good reason. The child has loved this soccer ball above all others and it has been well tested in the 4 months he has had it. I would definitely purchase this item again–isn’t that really the highest praise?

I was very pleased with the appearance of the ball. Very, very bright. It added 30 minutes to our regular practice time with its high visibility. The ball seemed to be fairly well made for its price. I do not sense that the brightness or the cover on the ball will be very long lasting however. After just one practice, the surface had some definite divots in it and we were playing strictly on grass.
There was a problem though– it leaked from the valve. It took about 12 hours for it to go completely flat. This may have been a fluke, and Amazon was great about returning it for full credit, including return shipping.
I have since ordered the fluorescent green version, thinking it may be even brighter (and add 45 minutes to my practice instead of only 30) but alas, the green isn’t nearly as “fluorescent” as the orange. It does however stay inflated just fine.
Added 06-28-10: The green ball I subsequently ordered held air, but DID NOT hold up as hoped. After 6 or so practices, the threads gave way in one panel and the bladder has begun to bulge out. In addition, there are many divots in the surface and this ball has never been off of the grass and used exclusively by kids.
I would NOT recommend purchasing this ball.

I got this for my son who just moved up to U14 soccer. The first day he took the ball to practice it was the only ball the kids wanted to play with! As they scrimmaged into the night it eventually became the only ball you could see.

Great color for night play. However, ball was flawed and stitching tore out after 4 night games of 75 minutes each with a 16 y/o team. No link with Amazon for warranty returns.
