Cristiano Ronaldo and Man. Utd?

i am writing an important article for a well known magazine and i would like to know some information about this Incredible soccer player. I mean i know his birthdate, who he has previously played with, the incident with England in the World cup and all the basic information. I'm actually a fan of Man Utd. and admire c. ronaldo, but if you guys could provide with other info, that would be great,!!!

(all you know about him.... most and best useful information gets 10 points)

well...there are a lot of things that I know about him. here are some of the more interesting ones. hope this helps.

His second name "Ronaldo" is relatively rare in Portugal. His parents named him after Ronald Reagan b/c he was his father's favourite actor.

In 1995, when Cristiano was just 10 yrs old, Madeira's top two teams, CS Marítimo and CD Nacional were both interested in signing him. Marítimo, the bigger team, missed a crucial meeting with Rui Santos manager of Andorinha (the club Cristiano was with at that time), and as a result Ronaldo signed for Nacional.
hahah bet Marítimo are kicking themselves now!!!!!!!!!

In the summer of 2003, Sporting Clube de Portugal beat Manchester United 3–1 in the inauguration of the Alvalade XXI stadium in Lisbon. On the bus after the match, the United players could not stop talking about the young talent, Cristiano Ronaldo, who clearly demonstrated his ability to play on both wings. They begged Sir Alex Ferguson to sign him, saying they would rather have him on their team than play against him in the future.

Ronaldo was handed the No. 7 shirt when he arrived in Manchester United. This shirt number has belonged to some of the biggest Man Utd legends like George Best, Brian Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham. Cristiano Ronaldo did not want this number b/c he felt that there was so much pressure to live up to the expectations surrounding it. He wanted the No. 28 shirt instead. (the # he had with Sporting Lisboa)

He was named FIFPro Special Young Player of the Year 2005, the only award to be voted for by fans. He also ranked 20th in the FIFA Player of the Year 2005 standings.

Ronaldo has occasionally had problems with his temper during games. he was sent off in a game against Manchester City and received a one-match ban imposed by UEFA for a "one-fingered gesture" towards Benfica fans in a UEFA Champions League match in December 2005.While playing for Portugal in a friendly against Luxembourg he was given a yellow card for pushing Jeff Strasser in the throat in retaliation after Strasser tackled him.

In January 2007, Ronaldo was awarded the Barclays Player of the Month Award for the second successive month, becoming the third ever player in the Premiership to do so (after Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp in 1997 and Robbie Fowler in 1996).

As of February 6, 2007, he is the joint eighth goalscorer for Portugal of all time, aged only 22.

Ronaldo has done a lot of charity work. He flew out Martunis, an 11-year-old Indonesian tsunami survivor, and his father to attend one of their World Cup qualifiers in June 2005; covering all their expenses. Subsequently all the players contributed money to buy them a house in Indonesia.
After the two World Cup qualifiers, Ronaldo flew to Indonesia to visit the areas affected by the tsunami and to raise funds. He met the Vice President of the Indonesian Republic Jusuf Kalla and the President of East Timor Xanana Gusmão, and raised £66,000 (about $120,000 USD) by auctioning off his personal sports gear in Jakarta, Indonesia

Cristiano is a very shy and hates to go out in public b/c his English is not perfect. He once pretended that his sister was his girlfriend in order to keep the girls away.

Cristiano was the most paid young football player in British history, until Wayne Rooney signed with Manchester United.

While playing for Sporting Lisboa, Cristiano once threw a chair at his teacher because she was making fun of his Madeiran accent. He was suspended...obviously.

Ronaldo scored his first goal for Manchester United on November 1st, 2003 from a free kick in the 83rd minute against Portsmouth. It was the first time he touched the ball.

On September 15, 2003, Cris accidently hit a cyclist with his BMW X5. The Police took a breathliser test, but it came out negative so there were no charges pressed.

He had been followed by Manchester United since he was 12 years Old.

When he was only 15 years old he often trained with the Sporting Lisboa senior team.

He is the first Portuguese to ever play for Man Utd.

Real Madrid are apparently ready to spend 80 million Euros to buy Cristiano Ronaldo.

haha..i know its long. but hey, there are a lot of things to say. he's a really interesting person. just remember to write something about the World Cup (about the Wayne Rooney incident, the "diving" and how he was ROBBED of the Best Young Player award) That'll always keep people interested.

Fifa World Cup - Its Birth And Consolidation

No matter where one lives, or how people call it, either soccer or football, everybody knows what the FIFA World Cup is all about. This famous competition went on last time in Germany, having Italy as the World Champion, and news coverage abounded about the players, the coaches, famous plays and daily match results. Coverage of the 2006 World Cup could be found in newspapers all over the world!

The history of World Cup Soccer can be traced back to 1904 in Paris, where on May 21, FIFA, also known as the Federation Internationale de Football Association, was founded.

Representatives from seven different countries became members of the federation at this time, and those countries included France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. As years passed, more and more countries joined, and the United States became a member in 1913.

The very first World Cup Soccer Event was held in 1930 in Uruguay. Other host countries for this famous sporting event have included France, Italy, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, England, Chile, Sweden, Brazil and Switzerland.

For the year 2006, the destination for World Cup Soccer was Germany. Cities in Germany which hosted events include Berlin, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen Hanover, Cologne, Munich, Leipzig, Kaiserslautern, Nuremburg and Stuttgart. Stadiums located in these host cities where tournament games were played include the Berlin Olympic Stadium and the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, among others. Many of these stadiums are so large that they can accommodate crowds of up to 600,000 spectators!

Although the majority of the fans who love World Cup Soccer do not reside within the United States, many Americans enjoy the coverage of this world-wide known event that the nightly news and morning newspapers afford them. This event is so very popular that it has its own website, its own magazine, and commands massive media coverage, both on television and in print.

The 2006 World Cup had 32 different teams competing, with teams representing six different continents. The teams are referred to as "squads", and each one of them consists of 23 players. That makes the total number of individual players who competed a whopping 736!

People from all over the world travelled to Germany to witness this awesome sporting spectacle. Tickets were sold out in record time, and commanded astronomical prices. Depending upon the host city, as well as what type of seating is desired, ticket prices ranged from 1,000 to 150,000 euros. Some tickets were also available online.

Estimative shows that the 2006 World Cup was attended by approximately 8 million fans, and host cities planned "Fan Fests" to make sure that all visitors stayed entertained in between matches. Some of the different featured events for Fan Fest included live concerts, spa getaways, street parties, beach club extravaganzas, cookouts, fan game days, and much, much more.

Germany is a great country steeped in history, art, and beautiful natural wonders. Those who went to the World Cup in 2006 surely had the time of their lives, and for those who weren't able to be part of it, you can start saving your money for the next World Cup, in 2010! No matter who wins, it will always be an unbelievable experience.
